MOHAWK WOMEN ADVANCE TO OCAA CURLING FINAL

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Kendall Haymes and her Mohawk College women's team have advanced to the gold medal game at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Curling Championships in Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday.

The Mountaineers downed the host Sault College Cougars 7-4 in this morning's semi-final. The Sault opened the scoring with a single in the first end, but Haymes' rink responded with three in the second end and stole one in the third. The Cougars got back to within one point with a deuce in the fourth end, but Mohawk scored two themselves in the fifth and stole a point in the sixth. The Sault got a single in the seventh, but that ended the scoring.

Mohawk now meets Fanshawe for the women's title at 12:30 p.m.
