MOHAWK CONTINUES ROLLER COASTER RIDE AT CURLING NATIONALS

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Mohawk's up-and-down fortunes continued at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Curling National Championships in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Friday. After both teams won their morning games, they were both defeated in the afternoon and both are 3-3.

The men's team, skipped by James Freeman, trailed by two points, but had the hammer going to the 10th end. But they could not pull it off and fell 7-5 to unbeaten MacEwan University of Edmonton.

Tonight at 8 p.m., it's Mohawk's final round robin game versus the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

The Mountaineer women saw their record also fall to 3-3 as the Humber Hawks beat them 6-2. Kendall Haymes' Mohawk rink fell behind in the fifth end when, with the score tied 1-1, Humber counted two. Then the Hawks scored two in the eighth and sealed the victory stealing one in the ninth end.

The Mountaineer women meet another Ontario rival, the Seneca Sting, in the seventh and final round robin draw at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, 9:30 a.m. has been set aside for tie breakers, if required. The semi-finals will be at 2 p.m. and the championship games at 7 p.m.
