MOHAWK CURLERS FINISH CCAA PLAY ON WINNING NOTE

OLDS, Alta. - They won't be going to the playoffs, but Avery Thomas' Mohawk women's curling team scored a 10-6 come-from-behind win over Holland College of Charlottetown in their final game at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Curling National Championship in Olds, Alta., on Friday.

The Hurricanes looked like they'd run away and hide after taking a 6-1 lead after only four ends. But the Mountaineers came storming back, counting four in the fifth end, stealing a deuce in the sixth, then stealing singles in each of the seventh, eighth and ninth ends.

The result left the Mohawk team with a 3-4 record for the championship.

Members of the Mountaineer team included skip Thomas, vice Mackenzie Thomas, second Paige Fursman, lead Autumn Jackson and spare Reagan Teeple, who got to play lead in the final game.

Mohawk was coached by Matt Kimber and Betty Wackley.
