WELLAND, Ont. - The Mohawk men's curling team captured the Niagara Knights curling bonspiel in Welland, Ont., on Friday.
The event used a point scoring system to declare the winner. It included the highest point total in a three game round robin, with 20 points for a win, three points per end and one point per rock scored. The Mohawk men finished up with 128.5 points, winning comfortably.
In their games, the Mountaineers beat host Niagara 14-4, downed Fanshawe 6-4 and defeated the the Mohawk women's team 6-1 in their final game.
The Mohawk women earlier lost 12-2 to the points winner from Fleming and 7-5 to Niagara.
