HUMBER ADVANCES TO OCAA WOMEN'S FASTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Humber Hawks women's fastball team played flawless fastball in a 7-1 sudden death playoff game against Kitchener's Conestoga Condors.

With the win, their 6th in the last 7, Humber will now play in the OCAA Championship tournament this coming weekend in Oshawa.

The game was a fifth vs fourth affair, with Conestoga entering the game with a 1-9 record, and the Hawks at 5-5.

Humber struck first, in the third inning as they pushed 2 runs across. Shauna Niskanen tripled and was pushed home by Jessica O'Quinn. Shelby Robblee, the OCAA Batter of the Week, then pounded out a double to drive O'Quinn home.

Conestoga responded with a run in the top of the fourth, closing the gap to 1.

The Hawks exploded in the bottom of the fourth with 4 runs, on 3 hits and 2 Condor errors.

The home Humber squad added another in the sixth, as Niskanen doubled to lead off and was driven home by Robblee.

Niskanen was perfect on the night with a 4-4 effort, including a single, 2 doubles and a triple. Quinn Hall drove home 3, and Robllee had 2 rbi's and 2 hits.

Jessica O'Quinn started and pitched the complete game, her fifth consecutive win. She only gave up 3 hits on the night, while striking out 4.
