ST. CLAIR TO HOST 2014 OCAA WOMEN'S SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

ST. CLAIR TO HOST 2014 OCAA WOMEN'S SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

WINDSOR, Ont. - This fall St. Clair College will again play host to a provincial championship but with a slight spin as the newly named OCAA women's softball League will take the place of the traditional moniker women's fastball.

Windsor's Mic Mac Park will be the site for the renamed OCAA Women's Softball Championship which will be contested Oct. 17-18 by the top four teams from the regular season in the double knock-out format.

The Saints earned the bid at the recent OCAA annual general meetings and last hosted the event in 2008 where they took the gold medal. St. Clair won a silver medal in 2013 after posting the best regular season in school history and winning the pennant.

Second-year Saints head coach Doug Wiseman stated, "We are proud to once again bring back the event to the community which has been so supportive of the program over the years and allow our fans to enjoy the action close to home. We have a good group of returning players with some excellent additions to the team and we look forward to being able to showcase their talents."

St. Clair has also accepted an invitation to the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Championships being played Thanksgiving weekend Oct. 11-13 in Calgary hosted by the University of Calgary.
