HUMBER 4, MOHAWK 3

HAMILTON, Ont. - The high flying Humber Hawks downed the Mohawk Mountaineers 13-3 in six innings and 4-3 in an extra inning to sweep their OCAA women's softball twin bill in Hamilton on Sunday.

Natalie Stoberman had three RBIs and Elisa Gregoris, Hilary Redrup and Abbey Hill drove in two apiece in the first game, which also saw the Hawks fashion a triple play.

Myranda Pierson beat Aimee Leduc.

For Mohawk, Amber Myers, Courtney Lukawiecki and Rachel Bomberry drove in their runs.

Game two was a very much different contest. The Mountaineers took a 3-1 lead into the seventh inning, but ended up losing in the extra frame. Humber, with runners on second and third and two out, got one run back on  a wild pitch. Then Stoberman delivered a double to tie the contest.

In the eighth inning, Lauren Hollidge singled home the winning run.

Once again, Pierson, this time in relief of starter Bree Donaldson, beat Leduc in an outstanding game.

As a result of the day's play, Humber upped its mark to 8-1 while Mohawk fell to 3-9.
