DURHAM 10, MOHAWK 1

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Mohawk women's softball team slipped to 3-5, dropping a pair of decisions to the Durham Lords in Oshawa, Ont., on Tuesday.

Durham notched a 9-3 decision in the opener. TK Doxtator, from Oneida, had two hits and drove in a run. Other Mohawk RBIs came from Aimee Leduc (Princeton) and Sarah Bell (Saltfleet), who both pitched for the Mountaineers.

The Lords romped 10-1 in the nightcap. Natasha Pasetto (Bishop Ryan) had two hits and Doxtator drove in the lone run for the visitors. Once again, Leduc and Bell pitched for Mohawk.

The score was 1-1 in the fourth inning of game two, but the Mountaineers committed some errors and Durham's bats came alive.

Mohawk head coach Todd Bannister said there were a couple of positives. For one thing, the team managed to get through seven innings in both games. The Mountaineers have been 'mercied' a few times this early season.

He was also pleased with the pitching of Bell which gives him an alternate arm to Leduc, the team's top hurler.
