MOHAWK 11, SENECA 2

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Mohawk women's softball team scored a pair of lopsided victories over Seneca in OCAA action Tuesday at Mohawk Sports Park.

The Mountaineers blanked the Sting 10-0 in six innings in Game 1, as Aimee Leduc twirled a one-hitter and struck out eight. Brianna Bader was the losing pitcher.

Amber Kukuk led Mohawk at the plate driving in three runs. Sarah Bell and Nikki Grover each contributed three hits.

Grover was the winning pitcher in the second game, allowing just five hits and fanning six as the Mountaineers rolled to an 11-2 decision. Grover helped her own cause with three RBI.

Once again, Bader was tagged with the loss, having to handle all the pitching for the Sting in the twin bill.

With the victory,  Mohawk improved its record to 2-2 and will play Humber at Wildwood Park Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Seneca, which saw its record fall to 0-4, will next be at home to meet Fanshawe on Saturday. Game times will be 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Newnham Field.
