ST. CLAIR 2, MOHAWK 1

The St. Clair College women's softball team ran their record to 13-3 and stand atop the OCAA with a doubleheader sweep of Mohawk College on Sunday at the campus diamond after an hour delay due to diamond preparation from the previous night's rains.

The Saints needed an extra inning in the opening game but were victorious after second year centrefielder Megan Lumley (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) laced a walk-off hit to left field to score the winning run from third base.

Alexa Georgiou (Windsor, Ont./Assumption) recorded 14 strikeouts going the distance over eight innings.

St. Clair pounded 16 hits in the second game for a 9-1 win with rookie catcher Alexandra Senft (Windsor, Ont./Walkerville) picking up five RBIs on three hits.

The Saints will board a plane Thursday morning for the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Championship Tournament with play beginning on Friday in Saskatoon, Sask.  See below their tournament schedule.

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Mohawk women's softball team dropped two games at St. Clair on Sunday. The Mountaineers lost a tough one in the opening game, 2-1 in eight innings.

Courtney Lukawiecki hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Aimee Leduc with the trying run in the seventh inning, pushing the game to extra innings. Nikki Grover pitched the complete game and suffered a heartbreaking defeat.

The Saints won the second game 9-1, but it was only 2-1 until the bottom of the fifth when St. Clair broke the game open.

Leduc drove in Kaylee Bertrand for Mohawk's lone run. Leduc pitched the complete game.

The Saints improved to 13-3, while the Mountaineers fell to 4-10.
