DURHAM 15, SENECA 0

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's softball team will look to continue their push for a playoff spot on Friday night after sweeping the Seneca Sting in their doubleheader at home on Thursday.

Durham won both games, starting with a 15-0 shutout, which was followed by a 16-1 victory.

Megan McDonald (Brampton, Ont.) picked up the opening game victory in three innings of work, while allowing only two hits and striking out three.

At the plate, Caleigh Coels (Duncan, B.C.) led the Durham at the plate going 1-for-1 with a three-run RBI triple and two walks.

Cassandra Silverthorn took the loss for Seneca. She allowed seven earned runs on two hits and five walks. Brianna Bader pitched three innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks.

Samantha MacCallum (Whitby, Ont.) struck out nine Seneca batters over three innings, allowing only three hits in her victory in the second half of the doubleheader.

Marina Christie (Pickering, Ont.) led the Lords bats going 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Seneca's lone run was scored by Hannah Rhodes off an RBI single by Bader.

Bader pitched three innings, allowing 11 earned runs on 13 hits and three walks. She also struck out one Durham batter.

The Lords push for a spot on the postseason continues Friday at Durham Field when the St. Clair Saints visit. First pitch of the doubleheader is 6 p.m.
