OCAA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Nov. 4.

Jade Addai
School: Toronto Mississauga
Program: Criminology
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Women's Basketball   
Hometown: United Kingdom
The UTM Eagles made their annual weekend trip to the Soo, and the Eagles returned home with a pair of victories. On Saturday, UTM cruised past Sault, 88-39. Addai put together her first of two strong two-way performances, recording 18 points, two rebounds, three assists and six steals. The next day, the game was considerably closer, however, the Eagles still came away with a 67-60 win. Addai went off for 25 points, five rebounds and four steals in the win. For the week, the native of London, England averaged 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 5.0 steals per game.

Daniel Cooper
School: Durham
Program: Sports Management
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Men's Rugby
Hometown: Uxbridge, Ont.
Cooper continued to be one of the most dynamic scorers in the province in Durham's 38-17 OCAA semifinal victory over St. Lawrence this past Saturday. The powerful interior player ran in a trio of tries, scoring two from in tight during the opening half, before breaking through the middle of the Vikings defence for a 20-yard run during the closing minutes. Cooper finished fifth in the OCAA regular season scoring race, totalling 60 points from a province-leading 12 tries scored this year. Durham will now host Georgian for the OCAA championship this Saturday.

Cheyenne De Luca
School: Humber
Program: Law Clerk
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Women's Rugby Sevens
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
OCAA scoring champion De Luca was named Championship MVP helping lead her Humber Hawks to a second provincial gold medal in three seasons. De Luca score a try in each of Humber's two victories this past Saturday, a 19-5 win over Loyalist in the semifinals, and a 14-5 win over previously undefeated Algonquin in the gold medal match. De Luca also helped set up another try in the championship finale, getting tackled just shy of the goal line. During the regular season De Luca scored 111 points on 21 tries and three converts in 14 matches.

Elijah Lostracco
School: Redeemer
Program: Kinesiology
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Men's Basketball
Hometown: Oakville, Ont.
This second-year guard for the Royals is quickly learning how to rise to the occasion in big games. Lostracco was perfect from the field last Friday from beyond the arc in the first half, drilling five 3-pointers in Redeemer's 112-109 upset of the No. 1 team in Canada. Lostracco finished the game against Sheridan with a career-high 31 points, making eight of his 12 field goals attempted. Lostracco was also 9-of-10 from the free throw line, making a number of clutch buckets late in the game to secure the victory. Redeemer improved to 2-2 in a competitive West Division.

Jarrod McNaughton
School: Algonquin
Program: Welding & Fabrication Techniques
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Men's Volleyball
Hometown: Ottawa, Ont.
The Thunder didn't get the results they wanted in the win/loss column this past weekend in matches against Georgian and George Brown at Algonquin, but that didn't stop McNaughton from doing his best to blow the roof off the gym, finishing with 10 kills and two blocks on Friday and 20 kills and seven blocks on Saturday, several of which electrified the home crowd. McNaughton is among the early OCAA league leaders with 64 kills, 13 blocks and 81 points through five matches. Algonquin is now 3-2 in the young campaign, in fourth place in the East Division.

Cassidy Nicholson-Clarke
School: Durham
Program: Law Clerk
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Women's Volleyball
Hometown: Ajax, Ont.
Nicholson-Clarke was a force for the Durham volleyball team in its three set sweep of Loyalist this past Thursday. She dominated the net, recording eight blocks alongside eight kills and one service ace for a match-high 17 points. Her overall performance led to new single-game career high's in both points and blocks. The 17 points surpassed her previous mark of 13, which she notched in a four-set victory over George Brown on Jan. 17, while the eight blocks bettered a five block night recorded during a straight set victory over Georgian on Jan. 23.
