HUMBER MEN HOLD LEAD AS SECOND ROUND RAINED OUT AT 2006 PING CCAA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The rain and cold weather unfortunately did not allow the golfers to complete the second round at the 2006 PING CCAA Golf Open Championships hosted by Champlain Regional College St. Lawrence yesterday.

Thursday’s second round was finally cancelled due to course conditions as a result of the large amount of rain the area received throughout the day. Inclement weather and a delay in play made it impossible for golfers to play more than 9 holes out of the round’s 18 holes. Consequently, the tournament will be cut short to 36 holes instead of 54, and today’s round will not count towards the overall standings.

Golfers will resume play with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start on Friday morning. The results and standings will remain the same as Round 1.

The rain also prevented the golfers to compete in the annual PING Skills Competition scheduled for Thursday.

All results of the first round of competition at the 2006 PING CCAA Golf Open Championships can be found at the following links:

Seventeen schools from across Canada will compete for the title with over 100 golfers, 87 men and 23 women who will compete in this year’s event.
