SENECA'S MOFFATT RETIRES; STAFFORD RESIGNS

TORONTO - Seneca Sting Varsity Golf and Curling Head Coach Brian Moffatt has retired and Women’s Volleyball’s Bruce Stafford has resigned; as both leave their positions with the college’s varsity athletics program.

Moffatt retires after his fifth season leading the curlers and first campaign coaching golf. Moffatt guided his men’s and mixed curling rinks to Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) gold medals in 2006, 2007 and 2011 as well as a bronze medal in 2008. His team also won the OCAA Fair Play Award in 2007. In 2010-2011, his first-year as Head Coach of Seneca’s Golf team, Moffatt’s squad won the OCAA Division II Team Golf Championship as well as OCAA Team of the Week.

“Brian had a wonderful way of relating to our student athletes, bringing both fun and focus to the team experience,” said Linda Stapleton, Director of Athletics and Recreation, Seneca College. “Brian’s has enjoyed great success with The Sting and his passion and dedication will be greatly missed. We wish Brian continued success in the rink and on the links.”

Stafford, the Women’s Volleyball Head Coach for the last four years, recorded a 38-37 record while representing Seneca. Stafford led the Sting to OCAA quarter-final playoff appearances in 2009 and 2010 as well as a 9-2 regular season record in 2009-2010. In 2010-2011, The Sting finished eighth in the OCAA with a 6-14 mark on the campaign.

Stapleton continued, “We would like to sincerely thank Bruce for his contributions to The Sting Athletic Family, his tireless work ethic and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
