HOFFMAN, KRAEMER LEAD HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND

THORNBURY, Ont. - Humber’s Mark Hoffman and Durham’s Kayleigh Kraemer lead after 36 holes at the 2010 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) golf championship being played at The Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay in Thornbury, Ont.

Hoffman posted the only sub-par round among the men so far in the tournament, shooting a 70 to take a two-stroke lead into Wednesday’s final round. Hoffman earned two eagles and two birdies to negate four bogeys on the afternoon.

Niagara’s Ryan Curran is in second place at plus-1, shooting a 73 on Tuesday. A costly double-bogey on hole nine spoiled an otherwise good round. Hoffman’s teammate, Adrian Cord, is in third place at plus-3 for the tournament. Hoffman and Cord’s efforts have helped put Humber ahead of the men’s team standings, 23 strokes better than second-place Durham. Fanshawe currently sits in third place one stroke behind Durham. Humber has won the men’s team title in each of the past four seasons.

On the women’s side, the Durham duo of Kraemer and Tiffany Albath continue to be a force. Kraemer shot a one-under par 71 on Monday, and followed this up with a 76 on Tuesday. She still leads Albath by seven strokes heading into the final round. Albath shot a 74 on Day 2. Jasmine Paton of Georgian is third, 22 strokes behind Albath.

Not surprisingly, Durham leads the women’s team standings, 56 shots better than second-place Humber. Georgian sits in third place entering Wednesday action. Durham has not won a women’s team title since 2005.

The Raven Golf Club is a 7,200-yard championship course located on the shores of Georgian Bay and has hosted both the TELUS Skins Game as well as the Nationwide Tour’s Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic in recent years.

Additional colleges participating at the OCAA golf championships include Boreal, Cambrian, George Brown, Mohawk, Seneca, St. Clair, St. Lawrence (Brockville, Cornwall and Kingston) and Fleming (Peterborough).
