JANETVILLE, Ont. - The 2012 Ontario Colleges Athletic
Association (OCAA) golf season officially teed off on Monday at the
Fleming College Invitational held at Wolf Run Golf Club.
Seneca's Mitchel Kennedy topped all men's golfers
with a one-over 73, one stroke ahead of Clayton
Connor of Georgian and Mac Harrison of
Durham.
Four golfers shot 75, including three Durham Lords. Adam
Miller, Stephen Longo and Shea
Varty along with Fanshawe's Ryan Bailey
finished the round two strokes back. Not surprisingly, Durham won
the men's team title with a total score of 301.
Avery White of Georgian was the top women's
golfer shooting a round of 82. Teammate Alyssa
Dafoe finished four strokes off the pace.
Stephanie Wole of Durham shot 94, while
Danielle Wilkinson of Fanshawe placed fourth with
a score of 99.
A flurry of OCAA tournaments takes place in a span of a week,
beginning Saturday at the Fanshawe Invitational. Niagara and Durham
also host tournaments.
The 2012 OCAA Golf Championships take place beginning October 1,
hosted by St. Clair at the Roseland Golf and Curling Club in
Windsor, Ont.
