WINDSOR, Ont. - Colton Kalkanis of Georgian shot a final round 72 to win the men's individual title at the 2012 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships held at the Roseland Golf & Curling Club in Windsor, Ont.

With his plus-three score for the tournament, Kalkanis finished two strokes ahead of OCAA silver medalist Mitchel Kennedy of Seneca. Kalkanis had a share of the clubhouse lead from start-to-finish, with Kennedy hot on his tail, one stroke behind for the first 36 holes. Kennedy shot a 73 in the final round.

Kalkanis becomes the first Georgian golfer to win an OCAA gold medal since Graham Hegler in 1999.

Humber's Alex Dumais earned his second straight OCAA bronze medal, four strokes off the pace. He and his Humber teammates won their seventh consecutive OCAA men's team title with a combined score of 874, three shots better than runner-up Georgian. Niagara won team bronze with a final tally of 888.

Shea Varty of Durham fell one stroke shy of medal position, five strokes behind Kalkanis in fourth place. There was a four-way tie for fifth, including Georgian's James Skrypec, Humber's Christian McCullough and Niagara teammates Robert Ellis and Walker Arnott. All finished the tournament at plus-nine. The top five men's golfers at the championship, including ties, earn OCAA All-Ontario awards.

Fanshawe won the OCAA Division II men's team title with a total score of 930. Division II silver went to St. Lawrence-Brockville (960), while Mohawk was awarded bronze (964).

Chase Komaromi of Seneca joined Tim Lemovre of St. Lawrence-Kingston as the only golfers to earn an eagle at the tournament. Komaromi shot his in the final round on the Par 4 tenth hole. Lemovre's came on Tuesday on the Par 5 second hole.

The tournament consisted of three 18-hole rounds, with the lowest gross score through 54 holes determining the men's individual championship. Men's teams consisted of four or five golfers, with the top four individual scores of each round contributing to their total score. Schools with the lowest aggregate of gross scores after 54 holes win the team title.

Golfers represented 15 Ontario college campuses, including Boréal, Centennial, Confederation, Durham, Fanshawe, Fleming, Georgian, Humber, Mohawk, Niagara, St. Clair, St. Lawrence (Brockville, Cornwall and Kingston), and Seneca.

The 2012 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship takes place October 15-19, hosted by Durham College at the Oshawa Golf Club in Oshawa, Ont.
