ST. CLAIR WOMEN DOMINATE OCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

DOURO-DUMMER, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's varsity golf team continued their strong play during the final round of the OCAA Golf Championships on Wednesday. The Saints ended up winning the team gold medal for the second time in school history. St. Clair finished 42 strokes ahead of the silver medal team.

Ashley Unrau (St. Thomas, Ont.) led the way for the team picking up an individual bronze medal. Her three day total was 234 (plus-18) with rounds of 77, 77, and 80. She finished 12 strokes behind the gold medal winner. The St. Clair team three day total was 495.

Three players play for the women each day with the best two scores counting. Laura Martin (Chatham, Ont.) had a three-day total of 261 (plus-45) for sixth place and Victoria Ducharme (Windsor, Ont.) had a three-day total of 268 (plus-52) which was good for seventh place. The team is coached by head coach Kevin Corriveau and assistant coach Heather MacKenzie.

The championships were hosted by Fleming College at the Wildfire Golf Club near Peterborough, Ont. With the win the women have now qualified for the CCAA national championships which are being held near Quebec City at the Lorette Golf Club from Oct. 14-17.

The St. Clair men ended up in ninth place out of 17 colleges. The top male was Alex Zappio (Tecumseh, Ont.) with a three day total 239 (79, 78, 82) which was tied for 34th
