DURHAM COLLEGE GOLFERS SET FOR NATIONALS

LORETTEVILLE, Que. – Over one hundred student-athletes will compete in the 2014 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championship, which takes place Oct. 15-17 at the Club de Golf Lorette in Loretteville, Que. For the second straight year, the tournament will be hosted by Champlain College St. Lawrence.

Durham enters the championship as the No. 8 ranked team in Canada, after winning a bronze medal at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championship. Durham erased a 10-stroke deficit in the final round of play, posting a team total of 289, which was the best round by any team at the three-day event.

The Lords last won a men's golf national medal in 2012, when the event was hosted by Durham College at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club.

Results will be posted daily on CCAA.ca. Updates will also available on Facebook and Twitter.

The CCAA national championship includes three rounds, a skills competition and the CCAA national championship awards banquet, where the 2014 CCAA All-Canadians and 2014 CCAA Golf Coach of the Year will be announced. The CCAA Coach of the Year will receive a personalized ring from Jostens to commemorate their award-winning season. Durham head coach Tyler Martin is the OCAA's nominee for the national award.

Golf equipment manufacturer PING Canada is the official title sponsor of the national championships, as well as sponsor of the PING Skills Competition and the PING CCAA Fair Play Award. Male and female golfers will compete as individuals and in teams for CCAA trophies and medals, with individual winners receiving a personalized set of PING clubs. Tournament play will be officiated by Golf Canada.
