GUELPH, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's varsity golf team didn't gain any ground during the third round of the Canadian University/College Championship and failed to make the third round cut to play in the fourth and final round on Friday.

The Championships are being played at Cutten Fields in Guelph, Ont., and are conducted by Golf Canada.

The Saints ended up in 10th place in the team competition (the Top 6 made the cut). St. Clair was the only college taking part in this 13th annual tournament. Laura Martin (Chatham) was the top finishing Saint with a three day total of 252 (39 over) which had her finish in 27th place out of 48 golfers.

Other scores for St. Clair on the third day were Ashley Unrau (St. Thomas) with a 91, Victoria Ducharme (Windsor) 85 and April Lesperance (Belle River) 87.

St. Clair head coach Kevin Corriveau was pleased with the effort of the women. "It was a great event for us to take part in and very special to be the only college team in the field. Our team is very young and we gained some valuable experience playing on a tough course against the best golfers in Canada."
