ST. CLAIR GOLF RESULTS AT OCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 2

WELLAND, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's and women's golf teams failed to gain any ground in the second round at the OCAA Golf Championships on Tuesday at Hunter's Pointe Golf Club on another wet and dreary day outside of Welland, Ont.

Play was actually suspended for an hour and half due to heavy rainfall. The third and final round is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

The St. Clair women were led by fourth-year player Jordan Schatz who shot a solid round of 82 in some very tough scoring conditions. The St. Clair women are in third place as a team with a total of 323. For the women's team event three players play with the top two counting.

The Saints are only four strokes behind the Humber Hawks for the silver medal. Laura Martin also had a solid round shooting an 83. Martin sits in seventh place individually but is only four strokes out of a medal. Victoria Ducharme shot an 86 to round out the women's scoring. The women must finish in the top two places in order to qualify for the CCAA championships.

The St. Clair men were once again led by fifth-year player Alex Zappio who carded a round of 73. Zappio sits tied for fifth place in the individual standings but is only four strokes out of the individual lead. The St. Clair men struggled as a team and are sitting in eighth place out of 14 teams with a total of 612. The Saints will be battling for a Division II medal on the final day now as they missed the Division I cut by one spot.

Other scores for the Saints on Tuesday were Jay Chambers with a 76, Brodie Weaver with an 88, Tyler Leblanc with an 80 and Zach Gervais with an 82. For the team competition five players play each day counting the best four scores.
