MOHAWK TAKES DIVISION II SILVER IN OCAA GOLF

WELLAND, Ont. - Mohawk College finished second to St. Clair in Division II, as the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Golf Championships wound up at Hunters Pointe Golf Club in Welland, Ont., on Wednesday.

Host Niagara captured the Division I crown.

Evan Littlefield led the way for Niagara firing the final day's lone sub-par round of minus-one. His 54 hole total was 212, two over par and he finished two strokes in front of Scott Benzoni of Humber.

The top Mohawk shooter was Brendan Gibson, who tied for 22nd place, after a 10-over par 80.  Jordan Knezich carded a 79 to finish 35th. Two Mohawk players tied in 43rd place. Taylor Tompkins had an 82 Wednesday and Rob Vachon shot 89. Mike Doyle tied for 54th after a 94.

On the women's side, Lorelle Weavers of Niagara carded a five over par 75, to win by four strokes.

Georgian won the women's team event.

Mohawk did not have any women in the competition.
