GEORGIAN COMES OUT STRONG ON DAY 1 OF OCAA GOLF PROVINCIALS

INNISFIL, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies made the most out of home field advantage on a wet and cloudy day during the opening round of the 2016 OCAA Golf Championships presented by belairdirect.

The field of 83 golfers took on the picturesque National Pines Golf Course in Innisfil, Ont., during the opening day on Monday.

Georgian's Addison Wallwin posted a round of 75 to finish just two strokes behind the clubhouse leader Lorelle Weavers from Niagara College.

Emilie Tyndall finished the round in fourth place with an 81 and Sady Beelik finished in sixth place after shooting an 84.

Georgian's women's team is currently sitting in first place with a combined score of 156.

On the men's side, Danny Watts is the top Grizzlies golfer after an impressive round of 70, to finish two-under par. He is currently tied for second on the leaderboard.

He combined with teammates Matt Lemay, Jonathan Collins, Mitchell Ahrens and Josh Lynch to produce the top men's team score of the day of 293.
 
The 2016 OCAA Golf Championships continue on Tuesday morning with the third and final round wrapping up the Championship on Wednesday.
