GEORGIAN HAS EYES ON PODIUM AFTER ROUND 2 AT GOLF NATIONALS

STRATFORD, P.E.I. - It was another strong day for the Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's golf teams during round two of the 2016 PING CCAA Golf National Championships in Prince Edward Island on Thursday.

Recently named CCAA All-Canadian Addison Wallwin had the top round on the women's side on the day shooting a 75 which moved her up to second place just one stroke behind the leader, Becky Martin from Medicine Hat College.

Teammate Emilie Tyndall had another strong day with a round of 78 to sit in a tie for third place and is just three strokes behind the leader.

Along with Sady Beelik who is also in the top half of the leaderboard in 14th, the Grizzlies team is sitting in first place, 11 strokes up on second place team from Humber College.

Mitchell Ahrens turned in an excellent round on the men's side as he was one of only nine golfers to shoot an under par round on the day with a 71. He has moved up 17 spots overall to sit in a tie for 12th place through two rounds.

Teammate Matt Lemay had a round of 75 and also sits in a tie for 12th place individually, just two-over for the tournament.

Jon Collins (T-38th), Josh Lynch (T-70th) and Danny Watts (74th) round out Georgian's field. The men's team remains in 11th place overall as a group.

The third and final round of the 2016 PING CCAA Golf National Championships takes place on Friday. You can follow the leaderboard throughout the event here.
