The Centennial Colts (Scarborough) successfully defended their
title and claimed the OCAA Women’s Indoor Soccer banner for
the second year in a row today with a 3-1 win over the Mohawk
Mountaineers (Hamilton) at the OCAA Championships hosted by
Conestoga College at the OSA Soccer Centre in Vaughan.
Centennial went 2-0-1 in round robin action defeating the Niagara
Knights (Welland) 2-0, St. Lawrence Vikings (Kingston) 7-1 and
finishing tied with the Mountaineers 2-2. In the semi-final,
Centennial skipped by the Humber Hawks (Etobicoke) 2-0 and in the
gold medal final the Colts managed to edge out the Mountaineers in
a 3-1 final decision. Centennial’s Janet Sury was named a
tournament all-star and Soula Fradelos of Centennial was named the
Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Joining Centennial and Mohawk on the medal podium we’re the
Humber Hawks after a close 1-0 win over the Seneca Sting (North
York) in the bronze medal game.
