Humber's men's indoor soccer team brought the men's title back
to Humber after a two year hiatus as they beat the Sheridan Bruins
in the Gold Medal game on Friday at the Ontario Soccer Centre. This
win was Humber’s eighth in the last 10 years. The only losses
came in overtime and in a shootout over the past two years. Humber
advanced to the gold medal game after defeating Seneca in overtime,
in the semi final. Starting keeper David Ragno was injured with two
minutes left in regulation, and had to be replaced by Aleks
Aleksandrov. Aleks Janjic scored the winner. The other semi-final
saw Sheridan get by George Brown 2-0.
In the championship game Andrew Dasilva of Humber opened and closed
the scoring, while Mario Orestano buried one in the middle helping
the Hawks to the 3-0 win. Aleks Aleksandrov posted the shutout.
George Brown bounced back to defeat Seneca 5-2 to win bronze.
