VAUGHAN, Ont. - The Humber Hawks Men’s Indoor Soccer team
completed the Hawk sweep at the OCAA Indoor Championships with a
4-0 win over Sheridan, which was held at the Ontario Soccer Centre
in Vaughan.
Humber's first game of the day was a Semi Final tilt against the
St. Lawrence (Kingston) Vikings. Humber arrived in the Semi Final
after finishing first in their pool on Thursday. St. Lawrence
advanced by way of a second place finish.
The Vikings jumped out to an early lead as they caught Humber
napping and buried an early goal. The Hawks battled back and had
the score tied by half.
The second half was all Hawks as captain Andrew DaSilva scored the
game winner and the Hawks went on to take the match 3-1.
That win sent the Hawks to the finals against Sheridan, a rematch
of the outdoor final from the fall.
The Hawks dominated from start to finish. Humber had the ball on a
string all match as they scored two quick in the first half.
The second half was no different as the Hawks added two more goals
to end the match with a 4-0 win and another gold medal for the
Humber trophy case.
For his blistering strikes and solid defensive play Marcelo
Capozzolo was named the tournament MVP.
Yousif Mohamed was named to the tournament all-star team. Keeper
Dave Ragno was named as the tournament’s top keeper.
This is Humber’s second soccer gold of the season as they
captured an outdoor Championship in October.
