REDEEMER'S INDOOR SOCCER FACILITY OFFICIALLY OPENS

REDEEMER'S INDOOR SOCCER FACILITY OFFICIALLY OPENS

Redeemer's indoor soccer facility finally opens it's doors today after a long anticipated wait. The facility, which will be the home of the Royals men's and women's outdoor and indoor soccer teams, has been over two years coming but is now complete and ready. The facility will also support a majority of Redeemer's Campus Recreation programs and other student activities.

The indoor facility is part of the new soccer complex that includes the main (South) field and the secondary (North) field as well as a 5, 600 square foot Field House. The South field will be the home field for the Redeemer Royals when they are in season. At the conclusion of the varsity outdoor seasons, the inflatable dome will cover the field till the Spring to allow for indoor use during the winter months.  During the winter months the Redeemer Royals will use the facility to house their indoor soccer programs as well as the Royal Cup indoor tournament.

Both the North field and the South field are approximately 83, 000 square feet (almost 2 full acres of playing surface) and meet FIFA standards. Both fields span 70m x 110m and are the same size as BMO Field in Toronto. Both fields can also be divided into three smaller playing surfaces at 70m x 36m.

The Field House includes 2 large change rooms that will be the official home change rooms of the Redeemer Royals. It also includes 2 junior change rooms, washrooms, offices and officials/coaches rooms, as well as an indoor and outdoor concession stand with seating.

A delay in construction prevented the first official game from being played on the main field as both men's and women's teams played out their seasons on the secondary field. However, an official grand opening for the Redeemer Royals and for Redeemer students will take place in the near future.
