FIELD SET FOR OCAA MEN'S INDOOR SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP

TORONTO - What began as a group of 16 teams has been paired down to an elite eight earning a berth to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Soccer Championship.

Four regional tournaments were held this past week, each consisting of four teams. The top two teams from each regional earned berths to the provincial tournament, beginning March 21.

In Pool A, the Humber Hawks and Centennial Colts had identical 2-0-1 records and will advance to the OCAA championship. Humber and Centennial played each other to a 2-2 draw. Humber outscored the competition 14-3 compared to 12-3 for Centennial, giving the Hawks the regional crown.

Not advancing past regionals from Pool A were the Durham Lords (1-2) and St. Lawrence Schooners (0-3) from Brockville, Ont.

The Fanshawe Falcons (2-0-1) went undefeated in claiming the Pool B regional championship, and will be joined by the Seneca Sting (1-1-1) at provincials. The Falcons edged the Sting 2-1 in their showdown. Eliminated from the competition were the Georgian Grizzlies (1-2) and Algoma Thunderbirds (0-1-2).

The Pool C regional title went to the Sheridan Bruins who had an unblemished mark of 3-0, outscoring their opponents 11-1. The Conestoga Condors (2-1) will join Sheridan out of this group at provincials. Sheridan defeated Conestoga 4-0 to win the regional crown.

Eliminated out of Pool C were the Confederation Thunderhawks (0-2-1) and St. Lawrence Sharks (0-2-1) from Cornwall, Ont.

Finally, the George Brown Huskies and Fleming Knights move on from Pool D to the OCAA championship. Both teams had a record of 2-1, with George Brown winning the regional title as a result of a 2-0 win over Fleming. Missing out on a berth to provincials were the Redeemer Royals (1-1-1) and Sault Cougars (0-2-1).

Regional tournaments took place at the OSA Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ont. with the exception of Pool D which was held at Redeemer University College Sports Complex in Ancaster, Ont.

The OCAA Men's Soccer Championship will take place at the OSA Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ont. from March 21-22.
