DURHAM WOMEN'S INDOOR SOCCER REACHES SEMI-FINALS AT GEORGE BROWN

VAUGHAN, Ont. - The Durham College women's indoor soccer team reached the semi-finals at the George Brown Invitational on Friday afternoon in their second tournament of the season.

The Lords were not successful in advancing to the final as they suffered a tough loss in their semi-final match against the Seneca Sting being shut out 2-0. The Lords posted a 2-2-1 overall record.

In round robin action, the Lords opened the tournament against the Centennial Colts of Scarborough, Ont., where they finished the game in a scoreless draw. Athlete of the week Alicia Del Fuoco (Whitby, Ont.) earned the clean sheet for Durham.

In its next match, Durham would go on to earn their first win of the day against St. Lawrence with a 3-1 victory. Brittney Sero (Newcastle, Ont.) would be credited with the hat-trick as she scored all three goals in the victory.

The Lords would earn back-to-back wins as they defeated Sault 1-0. Sero would be credited with her fourth goal of the tournament and Del Fuoco earned her second shutout of the day.

Durham finished their group play against the Humber Hawks losing the match 2-1 in a closely contested game. Sero looked to continue her goal-scoring streak firing endless shots on target but it would be Riley Graham (Oshawa, Ont.) who would score the Lords only goal of the match.

The Lords will be traveling to Hamilton, Ont. to take part in the Sheridan Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 15.
