DURHAM WOMEN IMPRESSIVE IN ITS INDOOR DEBUT

TORONTO - The Durham College women's soccer team got their indoor season off to a great start as they earned three victories at the George Brown Huskies invitational on Friday.

The Lords went 2-1 in pool play and finished in a three-way tie for first place. However, Durham was relegated to the bronze medal match because of goal differential.

In the playoff game, Durham earned a 1-0 shutout over the St. Lawrence Cornwall Sharks, as Rachel Armstrong scored the lone goal of the game on a penalty shot.

One goal matches were the theme of the day as all four scorelines ended up 1-0. Durham opened up the day with a win over the St. Lawrence Brockville Schooners that saw Cailey Giorgi score the game-winner in the 20th minute. Sault would end up getting the best of Durham in their next match, but the Lords would rebound with a victory over the hosts George Brown. Ashley Weissbach scored the game winner against the Huskies.

Jessica Prytulka had a solid tournament in goal for Durham, only allowing the one goal against that came against the Cougars.

The Lords will look to continue their winning ways next weekend at the Sheridan Invitational that will run in Oakville, Ont., on Feb. 14.
