ST. CLAIR INDOOR SOCCER TEAMS QUALIFY FOR PROVINCIALS

VAUGHAN, Ont. - The St. Clair Saints varsity indoor soccer teams were in Vaughan, Ont., today taking part in the OCAA regionals at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

The St. Clair women went 3-0 in their pool finishing first to advance to the OCAA championship. The Saints got off to a solid start defeating Lakehead Orillia 2-0. In their second match, St. Clair defeated the Conestoga Condors 7-3 in a high scoring affair. The Saints wrapped up first place in their pool by defeating St. Lawrence College (Kingston) 3-0.

The St. Clair men ended up going 1-1-1 in their pool placing second which is good enough to advance to the OCAA championship as well. The Saints got off to a great start in their first game winning 8-2 over St. Lawrence College (Kingston). In their next match, the Saints struggled and could not get things going eventually losing to the University of Toronto Mississauga 4-1. In their final match of the day, St. Clair was up 2-0 over Seneca but the Sting bounced back to make it 2-2. The Saints hung on for the 2-2 draw for the final six minutes which was good enough to secure a spot at provincials.

The championships are being hosted by Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ont., from March 23-25. The event features the Top 10 male and female teams from across Ontario. The St. Clair men are the defending OCAA silver medalists.
