The Fanshawe Falcons continued their winning ways as they
defeated the John Abbott Islanders 87-81 in first round action of
the CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship.
The Falcons proved they made the proper adjustments to the
International rules as they jumped out to a 13 point lead at the
end of the first quarter. Despite shrinking the lead to two points
later on in the game, Fanshawe managed to build momentum and pull
away to seal the victory.
The Falcons had four players in double-figures led by CCAA Player
of the Year Pat Sewell who recorded 18 points and four rebounds.
Adrian Pytka and Omar Sybbliss contributed with 16 points a piece
while Pat Wright connected on 7-of-10 from the field to finish with
15 points.
The Falcons will move to the semi-finals and take on the second
seeded Dawson Blues (Montreal, PQ) on Tuesday at 5:00pm (EST).
Dawson earned their spot after picking up a 71-56 victory over the
Okanagan Lakers (Kelowna, BC). 98.7 CFRL in London is proud to
