SHERIDAN MEN'S BASKETBALL COMPLETE THE SWEEP

The Sheridan Bruins men's have completed the OCAA Basketball sweep defeating the Algoma Thunderbirds 81-63 in a thrilling and closely contested Championship final. The Thunderbirds started the game on fire, leading by as many as 11 points before the half, but Sheridan would not be denied as they clawed back before the recess to lead 34-33.

Following the break, the Bruins and the Thunderbirds continued to elevate their game, but the Bruins proved to be too much for the team from the Sault, pulling away down the stretch on the back of Tournament MVP Shane Reese and guard Tab Donaldson. Both players finished with 20 points, including 15 second half points for Reese. Vyron Phillips finished with 19 points for Algoma.

Sheridan will automatically advance to the CCAA National Championships in Quebec, while Algoma will now wait until Monday to determine their National Championship fait when the Wild Card teams are decided on.

FANSHAWE MEN'S BASKETBALL CLAIM BRONZE

The Fanshawe Falcons claimed the OCAA Men's Basketball championship this afternoon with a 70-64 victory over the St. Lawrence Kingston Vikings. The Falcons played well, taking advantage of the shooting woes of the Vikings who could not buy a shot when they needed them most. The Vikings did manage to keep the game close, but to no avail as Fanshawe's third year veteran Omar Sybbliss hit two key shots in the dwindling minutes to put the game out of reach.
