TORONTO - The 2010-11 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association
(OCAA) men’s and women’s basketball regular season came
to an end on Wednesday, with 24 teams still hoping to celebrate a
provincial championship on March 5.
Of the 24 squads, eight teams have already advanced to their
respective OCAA championship tournaments, taking place March 3-5.
Earning invites to the OCAA men’s basketball championship
hosted by Algoma University include Algonquin (19-1), Durham
(15-5), Humber (17-1) and Sheridan (13-5). On the women’s
side, Algonquin (16-0) will battle for a provincial championship on
its home court. Humber (11-3), Seneca (13-3) and Sheridan (14-0)
will also play at Algonquin.
For the remaining 16, each club has one final opportunity to clinch
a spot at their respective provincial championships. One and done
time has arrived for these teams, as their destiny will be played
out this weekend. Teams will face opponents from the opposite
division for the first time in conference play this season.
