TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) basketball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 22.
MALE: Jahmal Edwards, St. Lawrence-Kingston
A pair of double-doubles by first-year forward Jahmal
Edwards (Kingston, Ont.) helped lift the St. Lawrence
Vikings to a pair of victories. Edwards scored 17 points and added
13 rebounds in a 79-59 win over Fleming-Peterborough on Jan. 18. He
scored another 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a hard-fought
62-60 win over La Cite on Jan. 20. Edwards has scored 49 points in
his last three games. St. Lawrence (8-4) has won five straight and
sit in third place in the OCAA East region.
FEMALE: Samantha Goff, Loyalist
Second-year centre Samantha Goff (Lindsay, Ont.)
was the Queen of rebounds in a pair of Loyalist victories. Goff
grabbed 10 boards and scored six points in a 61-50 win over George
Brown on Jan. 18. She earned another 10 rebounds while scoring 18
points in a 73-55 win over Durham on Jan. 20. Goff leads the
Lancers with 70 rebounds in 10 games. Loyalist (7-4) has won four
straight games, and sit in third place in the OCAA East region.
