TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) basketball student-athletes of the week
for the period between Monday, Nov. 28 and Wednesday, Dec. 7.
MALE: Tristan Stern, Centennial
First-year player Tristan Stern (Whitby, Ont.)
totaled 44 points and 23 rebounds in three games as Centennial
finished the fall semester with an OCAA-best 9-1 record. Centennial
had only seven victories last season. Stern earned double-double
with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 72-51 loss to Algonquin on Dec.
2. He contributed 14 points in an 80-45 win over La Cite on Dec. 3,
then nine points in a 74-61 victory at George Brown on Dec. 7.
Stern is averaging 15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
FEMALE: Erin Emery, Durham
Fifth-year guard Erin Emery (White Rock, B.C.)
became Durham's all-time career leading scorer on Dec. 2 as she
scored 14 points in a 61-50 loss to George Brown. She ended the
game with 891 career points, surpassing previous record holder
Bonnie Slaughter's 886 points.
Emery contributed another 22 points in a 66-63 loss to Loyalist on
Dec. 6, becoming just the fifth OCAA player to surpass 900 points
with 913. If Emery keeps up her 15.7 points per game average, she
should become just the third OCAA player to score 1,000 points.
