DURHAM 80, FLEMING (P) 77 (FINAL)

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's basketball team pulled out a big win over Fleming College on Friday night as they defeated the Knights 80-77.

Trailing by one point with less than a minute on the clock, Christoff Pierre went to the line and drilled two free throws for DC.

Looking to regain the lead, Fleming drove hard to the net but turned the ball over after a great defensive play by captain Tyler McGarrity.

After a Fleming foul, Tristan Francisco looked to put the Lords up by three as he stepped to the line. The first year guard would miss both shots, but teammate Kevin Honig came up with a big offensive rebound to regain possession for Durham.

Fleming would foul again and McGarrity drained both of his free throws to put the Lords up by three. A Fleming three-point buzzer beater attempt went wide to give Durham their sixth conference victory of the season.

McGarrity finished the game with a season high 27 point performance, going 9-for-15 from the floor. The Lords captain also had eight rebounds in the win.

Honig had his second straight double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Max Clarkson of the Knights had a game high 34 points in the loss. He had a busy night shooting putting up 31 shots in the loss.

Durham is now on a two-game conference winning streak and is in a tie for fourth place with the St. Lawrence Vikings in the OCAA east region.

The Lords will head to Belleville next Friday night for a road game against the Loyalist Lancers (4-7). Game time at the Lancerdome is 8 p.m.
