TORONTO - Vadim Halimov began the 2013-14 men's
basketball season ninth on the Ontario Colleges Athletic
Association's (OCAA) all-time scoring list, 554 points behind
Anthony Batchelor's record 1,833.
On Valentine's Day, Halimov needs just 15 points to establish a
brand new mark.
The George Brown College fifth-year forward has averaged a
league-high 30.0 points per game this season, amassing 540 total
points with two regular season games to go. It's a remarkable end
to a varsity career which began at Seneca College in 2008-09.
Batchelor set the all-time mark with Durham College between the
2004-05 and 2008-09 seasons.
Also within reach for Halimov (Uzbekistan) is the all-time single
season record of 582 points, set by Marv Snowden
of George Brown in 1973-74. Halimov is 43 points shy of setting
another new standard.
The George Brown Huskies visit Halimov's former school Seneca on
Friday night. George Brown concludes the regular season at Georgian
College in Barrie, Ont., on Tuesday.
