FANSHAWE 74, LAMBTON 66

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe Falcons lost to the Lambton Lions (7-4) on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 74-66. Fanshawe is now in third place in the OCAA west division standings.

Fanshawe's ball movement was fantastic to start the game, moving the ball around to the open shooter. Lambton stayed in the game behind some great offensive rebounding but the Falcons led by as many eleven, 23-11, heading into the second quarter. Ryan Pflanzner knocked down a pair of three pointers on way to eight points in the quarter.

Both defences picked it up in the second quarter. It was a low scoring quarter until Lambton's offence caught fire in the final few minutes. A last second steal before the half by Lambton, led to a layup and gave the Lions the lead 35-34.

The third quarter was very evenly matched with both teams keeping the defensive intensity up.  Lambton led by as many as six but Fanshawe closed the gap by being aggressive and taking the ball to the rim. The Falcons cut the game to one before Lambton scored the final three points of the quarter, giving them a 54-50 lead with one quarter to play.

With three minutes left in the game, Fanshawe tied the game at 64. Lucier hit a big three pointer and then a free throw with just under two minutes left to put the Lions up by four. Fanshawe wasn't able to come back as Lambton went on to win 74-66.

The Falcons host the Niagara Knights (3-8) next Saturday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. back at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre.
