SENECA 81, ST. LAWRENCE (K) 73

KINGSTON, Ont. - The SLC men's basketball team battled hard on Saturday, Nov. 8 against the visiting Seneca College Sting, but was unable to capitalize in the final few minutes of the game, falling 81-73.

It was a strong opening quarter for the Vikings, with both teams exchanging the lead three times before the second quarter. That's when the wheels came off the rails for the Vikings, as they were outscored 18-9 in the quarter.

SLC had a strong second half, coming within just three points of tying the game. But the Sting defence held strong and did not allow the Vikings to capitalize during the final few minutes of the game.

Second-year player, Donald Gibson, led the way for the Vikings finishing just one rebound shy of a double-double, with 16 points and nine rebounds.

With the loss, the Vikings record drops to 1-3 and are in a four-way tie for seventh overall in the OCAA East Division with La Cité, Loyalist, and Canadore College. SLC will need to record important victories this week at home, as they host Loyalist on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m., and Canadore College on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.

Wednesday night's game is part of the Knights of Columbus Night, where a free community BBQ will take place prior to both women's and men's games.
