HUMBER 67, FANSHAWE 66

LONDON, Ont. - At the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Saturday afternoon, the Fanshawe men's basketball team (0-3) lost in a heartbreaker to the Humber Hawks (3-2) by a score of 67-66.

The game was close from the start, as Fanshawe and Humber traded baskets in the first quarter. The Falcons had a 15-14 lead after the first frame.

The second quarter began with Fanshawe capitalizing on a pair of Humber turnovers to go up 20-15. The Hawks then went on a run, forcing the Falcons to call a timeout. The Falcons responded with a run of their own, however still trailed by three going into the locker room, 36-33. Fanshawe player Oshane Daley scored five straight points to finish the half with 11 points.

The third quarter started off with Falcon's player Ousmane Kromah hitting a nice mid-range jumper. Then, with six minutes to go in the quarter, Kromah and Connor Therrien hit back-to-back three-pointers for the home team to retake the lead. The Falcons had a 54-50 advantage going into the final quarter.

Fanshawe's momentum carried over into the fourth, as they opened with a great pass from Rey Carnakie to Kromah for the layup. The Falcons extended their lead to eight, forcing Humber to call a timeout. The Hawks then stepped it up and went on a 9-0 run to go up by one point. In the final two minutes of the game, the teams traded baskets and with 1.8 seconds remaining, Humber had a single point lead. Unfortunately, Fanshawe was unable to score on their final opportunity and fell to the Hawks 67-66.
