HAMILTON, Ont. - Both Mohawk College basketball teams hit the century mark in points at the expense of Lambton College in OCAA action at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre Saturday.

First, JenJen Abella scored a game-high 21 points and added seven assists to power the Mountaineer women to a 100-61 decision over the Lions.

Careena Browne tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds for Mohawk while teammate Jakayla Douse had 11 points and 11 boards.

Madisyn Campbell scored 20 points for the visitors from Sarnia. Riley Williams produced 16 points and Melissa Ellis added eight points and 11 rebounds.

Mohawk upped its record to 3-2 while Lambton fell to 3-5.

Then the Mohawk men hit the hardwood and delivered a 102-87 win over Lambton in a game which was a lot closer than the score indicated. It was 78-78 very early in the fourth quarter when the Mountaineers went on a 17-4 run and were never headed.

Rookie Kareem Collins, the product of Cathedral High School, led Mohawk with 24 points. Lamar Barr (St. Thomas More) had 20 points and Patrick Iavarone (St. Thomas More) had 18 points, all on three point shots. Jeff Hunt contributed 16 rebounds for the Mountaineers whose record went to 5-0 and in the process, stopped Lambton's winning streak at five games. The Lions dropped to 6-2.

Branden Padgett led all scorers in the game with 26 points and seven assists for Lambton. Mike Lucier had 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Shawn Hill got 17 points.
