SAULT 75, ST. CLAIR 67

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team suffered a 75-67 setback to Sault College (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) Saturday night at the SportsPlex.

Sault shot the ball well staking itself to an early 21-17 advantage after the first quarter and then played even in the second quarter to lead the Saints 39-35 at the break. Sault shot 62.5 per cent from three-point land and 53.6 per cent from the field in the opening half.

The Saints put on the defensive clamp in the third quarter holding Sault to just 12 points and used a 13-5 run late in the frame entering the fourth quarter with a slim 52-51 lead. It was short-lived, however, as Sault outscored St. Clair 24-15 in the game's deciding quarter. Sault held the advantage in both three-point scoring (24-12) and points off turnovers (11-6) in the contest.

Fifth-year transfer forward Patrick Donnelly (Oakville, Ont.) led all scorers with 18 points but was held in check on the boards managing only four rebounds adding three assists and two steals for St. Clair. Third-year transfer guard Jermaine Lynch (Windsor, Ont./JL Forster) scored 15 points to go with three rebounds and three steals while rookie guard Trevon Mollison (Brampton, Ont.) chipped in with 11 points adding four assists for the Saints.

Sault's Joey Bruni (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) scored 17 points to go with four assists to lead his team in the victory.
