MOHAWK 117, CAMBRIAN 56

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Mohawk men's basketball team improved to 12-2 with a 117-56 decision over the Cambrian Golden Shield from Sudbury, Ont., on Saturday in Hamilton.

Jerome Gayle scored 24 points to lead the Mountaineers. OJ Watson had 22 and Jeff Hunt added 19 points, plus 15 rebounds. Mohawk started the game with only seven players and they all scored at least six points.

Eric Lavergne-Giroux had 18 points for Cambrian, which fell to 1-12.

Hunt set a new Mohawk men's basketball record playing in his 134th win. He previously shared the record with former teammate Taylor Dowhaniuk. A fifth-year product of Dundas Parkside, Hunt said he had no idea he set the new mark until his coach Brian Jonker informed him of the accomplishment.

"I didn't even know they kept stats over the last five years," said Hunt. "I'm going to text (Taylor) and tell him I beat his record, because he's always had one up on me ever since we've been here."
