NIAGARA 96, MOHAWK 88

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Niagara Knights handed the Mohawk Mountaineers their second straight loss, 96-88, in OCAA men's basketball at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre at Mohawk's Fennell Campus on Wednesday.

Jordan McDonald scored 22 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Knights' attack. Delroy Grandison logged a double-double, with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Maraka Lundy had 16 points and seven boards.

The Mountaineers turned the ball over 30 times in the game, compared to just 19 by the Knights.

Kareem Collins had 24 points for Mohawk, 12 in each half. He also had four assists and three turnovers. Jeff Hunt scored 18 points and pulled down 17 rebounds. Kojo Afari had 14 points while Patrick Iavarone and Lamar Barr had 11 each.

Mohawk saw it's record drop to 9-2, while Niagara improved to 8-4.

The injury-riddled Mountaineer women's team upped their record to 8-3 with an important 71-58 decision over Niagara. The Knights had a chance to stay on Mohawk's heels, but instead dropped to 6-6.

Stef Hrymak paced the Mountaineers with 19 points. Careena Browne had 16 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Britanny Gazzola and Hunter Johns contributed eight points apiece.

Courtney McPherson scored 14 points and 17 rebounds for Niagara. Kaitlyn McPherson had 11 points and Brooke-Lyn Murdoch added 10 points.
