REDEEMER 93, ST. CLAIR 86

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team fell 93-86 to Redeemer University College (Ancaster, Ont.) Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex despite mounting a furious 20-point comeback.

After falling behind 44-30 by halftime and trailing 73-59 by the end of the third quarter St. Clair was able to start the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run. Redeemer kept the Saints at bay for a few minutes until surrendering the lead at 85-84. However, from that point the visitors closed out the game on a 9-1 run that included several trips to the free throw line.

Shooting percentage proved to be the key stat as Redeemer shot 54 per cent from the field for the contest including nearly 63 per cent from behind the three-point arc and added 84 per cent from the free throw line.

Transfer guard Jermaine Lynch (Windsor, Ont.) scored a 19 points to lead the Saints in scoring.  Point guard Charles Baskin (Detroit, Mich.) scored 18 points adding three assists while rookie forward Akim Ruot (Windsor, Ont./Catholic Central) had his best game of the season scoring 14 points and added six rebounds. Lance Drummonds (Hamilton, Ont.) chipped in with 12 points to go with five rebounds for St. Clair.

Redeemer's Jacob Walda (Woodstock, Ont.) scored a game-high 20 points in the win.
