MOHAWK 82, SAULT 72

HAMILTON, Ont. - Mohawk's basketball teams defeated Sault College in both men's and women's play for the second straight day.

The Mountaineer women got 24 points from Sam Pocrnic and 16 from Stef Hrymak in a 69-48 decision at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre. Jasmina Kucic had 15 rebounds, 11 on the defensive boards.

Cassidy Sabourin scored 15 points for the Sault.

It was a wire-to-wire victory for Mohawk, whose biggest lead was 31 points. The Cougars outscored the locals 17-12 in the final quarter to make the score closer.

Mohawk has an unblemished record after four games, while Sault has dropped its first six games.

The Mohawk men's basketball team got over a lethargic start, which saw them trailing by double digits in the first quarter, but they managed to get their act together for an 82-72 win over a game Sault College squad.

Mat Elcock had 20 points, including 17 in the first half for the Mountaineers. Kareem Collins had 15 points; Lamar Barr scored 11 points and Ty Uhrig added 10.

Michael Heptbourne scored 21 points to pace the Cougars.

Mohawk improved to 2-2 with their second straight win. Sault College was left still searching for their first triumph after six games.
