TORONTO - The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team opened their second half of the season by playing in the George Brown Tournament this past weekend in Toronto.

The Grizzlies opened the tournament against their OCAA East Division rivals in the Durham Lords on Friday morning.

After a good start, Georgian went into a shooting slump and weren't able to recover falling 86-75 to the Lords.

David Marshall (Alliston) scored a team-high 18 points while Carter Dunlop (Manitowaning) had 14 points in his return to the Grizzlies line-up.

On Saturday, Georgian faced the Mohawk Mountaineers in a tight contest.

The Grizzlies rallied a second half comeback but came up just short in the end falling 78-75 which ended their tournament.

Johnathan Edwards (Mississauga) led the team with 23 points while teammate Daniel Martyn (Barrie) was solid with 16 points and matching a team-high with five rebounds.

The Grizzlies will now shift their focus to prepare for the second half of their regular season. They currently sit in fifth place in the East Division with a 6-4 record.

Georgian will open their second half of Jan. 17 when they travel to face the Centennial Colts (7-3).

Their next home game will be on Saturday, Jan. 20 when they host the Fleming Knights (2-8) at the Georgian Athletic Centre at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at the doors for $5.
