ST. CLAIR 97, SAULT 72

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's basketball team earned their first win of the OCAA West Division season with a 97-72 decision over Sault College (Sault Ste. Marie) Saturday night at the SportsPlex.

A fairly even contest in the first half saw the Saints with a 45-37 lead the break, but St. Clair used a small run to take 69-53 after three quarters.

The Saints expanded their lead in the fourth quarter to a commanding 87-57 advantage and were able to coast to the final score. Both teams shot the ball well from the field in the game with second half shooting eclipsing 60 per cent on either side. But turnovers were the visitors undoing with Sault giving up 30 points on 32 giveaways. St. Clair also scored a monstrous 59 points off the bench.

Lance Drummonds (Hamilton) had a huge night scoring 31 of those bench points for the Saints. He added nine rebounds and three steals to go with a blocked shot. Will Lara-Caston (Windsor/JL Forster) and Juwan Lynch (Windsor/Kennedy) each scored 12 points apiece with Glynn Willis-Paris (Windsor/Kennedy) chipping in with 10 points for St. Clair. Lara-Caston distributed well with seven assists and added five thefts.
